Pocketfleet is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) released for mobile. It is a free multiplayer space dogfight game where users can match up with thousands of other players online in this fast paced space shooter that is available on Android phones and tablets. Upon first entering the game you are given the option to sign up for a free account. I’m not sure if the servers are not up to par but my connection was rather slow and I kept getting high ping ratings while I was connected to my wifi which has pretty good speed.
With that aside I found the game to be rather fun. The controls were awkward at first. The game uses tilt controls which I’m not too fond of but once I got the hang of it it was smooth sailing. I didn’t test out the player vs player (PvP) action because everyone perpetually plays in co-op to take down the AI-controlled Mothership.
While It’s true that the game is free, ship and weapons upgrades can be purchased via IAP(in app purchases). These upgrades allow you to become much more powerful rather or you can use in-game cash earned by killing enemies and beating stages. You’ll have to play a heck of a lot to actually buy anything powerful though.
As is, Pocket Fleet Multiplayer is definitely worth a try, but there is definitely room for improvement. One thing I would like to see is an option to change the controls. Real-time space battling is fun for a while, but the lag should be on top of the list of things to fix in their next update.
